Air Raid Siren Alarm Sound
A vintage air raid siren winding up to full scream. It builds for a few seconds, which makes it even harder to ignore.
The recording
A long recording of an old civil-defense siren: it winds up for about 8 seconds, holds its wailing tone, then slowly winds down. Measured, it is the loudest sound in our library.
Recorded by JalynCatbtg and shared on Freesound as “Long Air Raid Siren.wav” under CC0: free to use for anything. We volume-matched it and made the phone files.
Who it’s for
Great for: The heaviest sleepers, and people who need to be up for an early flight.

Questions people ask
Is a siren a good alarm sound?
It is one of the most effective for heavy sleepers: the rising pitch and the long, loud tone are hard to sleep through. It is also one of the most stressful, so keep it for days when you really can’t oversleep.
Why does the siren start quietly?
Mechanical sirens need a few seconds for their rotor to speed up, so the sound rises in pitch and volume before it reaches its full wail.
